Christians appealed for calm

LAHORE - National Council of Churches of Pakistan President Dr Azad Marshal has appealed to Christians to demonstrate tolerance and remain peaceful.

He said that Christians are peace loving and it has always played a vital role in the progress and development of Pakistan. He said that today special prayers were offered in the churches for the security of the country. He said that Christians love Pakistan.
In his statement, Dr Azad appealed to Christians to remain peaceful and not to damage the public properties. He assured that his community will extend all-out cooperation to the administration in order to bring the mischievous elements to their logical end. He said the Punjab govt, by taking prompt action, has consoled Christians. He expressed the hope that Punjab government will take the responsibly of Badami Bagh incident. Bishop Dr Azad said that the meeting with Chief Minster was positive and their all demands have been accepted.
CONDEMNED: National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony Vice Chairman Rev Riaz Malik condemned the Badami Bagh incident. The Christians fasting these days as they are preparing for Easter on March 31.  It is so sad while many of the christians were with the fast and their properties were burnt. The Christians demand full justice from the Punjab government and want officials to compensate with their losses and help them to buy appliances as well before Easter 31st march 2013.
More than 3000 Christians of this area has been running for their lives and they have no place to go.
 All their households are looted now.
