LAHORE – The Comsats Institute of Information Technology in collaboration with the UK Lancaster University has arranged the first Global Forum on Islamic Finance. The theme of the forum was ‘Islamic Finance: New Realities and New Challenges.’

State Bank of Pakistan Deputy Governor Kazi Abdul Muktadir graced the event.
Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Commissioner Zafar Abdullah, chief executive, Islamic Banking & Finance Centre, Akmal Hanuk and others attended the event.
The Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary, in his inaugural address, said that he was glad to see the CIIT had successfully gathered so many distinguished academics, researchers and leaders of the Islamic banking and financial services industry.
He said that he was confident that this forum would help gaining knowledge and wisdom to develop and promote the Islamic financial system to promote economic growth and development. He congratulated the COMSATS team for organizing such an international event in Pakistan despite security reasons.
COMSATS Rector Dr SM Junaid Zaidi appreciated the COMSATS team’s efforts for organising the conference which is attended by finest people of Islamic Finance industry.
