LAHORE - National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights Chairman Riaz Fatyana summoned the Punjab IGP on March 14 for his failure to protect the life and property of the Christians. Talking to APP after visiting the affected area, Fatyana said Islam attaches importance to the protection and security to the life and property of all people irrespective of their religion, creed and cast.

He said it was the constitutional obligation on the part of Punjab government especially law enforcing agencies to make ensure security to all citizens. He said if police took timely action, the situation could be controlled.
“The standing committee has taken notice of the police negligence and has summoned the IGP to explain his position,” Fatyana added.
