LAHORE – Following registration of case against those involved in manhandling of doctors at the emergency ward of Nishtar Hospital, Multan, the Young Doctors Association Punjab on Wednesday announced to call off strike and reopening of OPDs of hospitals across the province from Thursday (today).
The protesting doctors were also assured that the government would implement the policy of one attendant for one patient in letter and spirit to ensure that no unpleasant incident occur at any of the health facility.
The YDA closed down OPDs of public sector hospitals across the province including the City on Wednesday, causing huge inconvenience to visiting patients and their families.
Attendants of patients cursed the doctors, saying that they (doctors) were in habit of going on strike on one excuse or the other. They urged the government to free hospitals from habitual protesters.
The protesting doctors said that improper security at hospitals has made it impossible for them to provide health facility. They stressed upon the government to give exemplary punishment to those who ransacked Emergency of Nishtar Hospital and improve security at hospitals to avoid such unpleasant incidents in future.
