LAHO RE Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints survived a scare from Lahore Chatkhara/Vogue before emerging victorious in the Zong Aibak Cup at the Lahore Polo Club here on Thursday. Chatkhara/Vogue enjoyed two goal handicap prior to the regulation scoring but they were powered by Pakistans most celebrated player - the Alam siblings both ranked at four goals. Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints had one heavyweight Ignacio Tocalino at eight goals in their ranks and he lived up the billing by hammering eight goals of the 10 scored by his team. The match started with a hat-trick from Shah Qublai Alam that included solo effort, long lofted shot and a cut shot goals. Combined with the handicap, this was a five goal lead for Lahore Chatkhara/Vogue -enough to cause panic in Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints ranks. Ignacio Tocalino led the goal spree from Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints and he converted four goals in the first chukker. Ignacio started where he had left in the first chukker and as the second chukker got underway, he converted another two goals. Raja Samiullah hit a field goal on a pass from Ignacio and Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints were now in the lead. Both teams managed a goal apiece in the third chukker. With Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints leading by two goals in the final chukker, it needed a brave effort from Lahore Chatkhara/Vogue which they tried, butfailed to take the winning edge losing it by 10-8. Ignacio and Mir Shoaib scored two goals for Hilton Pharma/Diamond Paints in the final chukker and Taimur Mawaz and Shah Shamyl for the losing side. Gaston Moore and Hissam Ali Hyder officiated the match. In another match of the day, Al Khan/TIP Moor stunned Capital Strategic Group/Army by 5 1/2 to5 goals. Veree, a five goaler from Capital Strategic Group/Army scored four goals. Tomas Pieres converted four goals for Al Khan/ TIP Moor. Atif Tiwana and Fernando Quinto Bourdieu served as umpires.
