President Asif Ali Zardari says consensus will be developed over the interim government and date for elections.
The President said polls will be held on time and the interim government will have absolute authority under the Constitution to hold free and transparent elections.
He said that free and fair elections will strengthen the country.
Commenting on his son's political career‚ President Zardari said that Bilawal Bhutto is still young and it will take some time before he assumes all the responsibilities for running the party.
He said that being a front line state in the war against terrorism‚ Pakistan has faced economic complications besides loss of human lives.
The president deplored that war in Afghanistan for the past 40 years has created a number of social and economic problems for Pakistan.
He appreciated media's role for making these problems public to enable the government to take steps for resolving them.
