LAHORE – Dacoits barged into the house of former provincial minister, Amir Sultan Cheema, in the posh locality of Gulberg and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions, police sources revealed on Friday night.
Four gunmen stormed into the house of the ex-minister after overpowering the security guards and held up his cousin, Irfan Ali, at gunpoint.
Cheema and his family members were not present in the house when the bandits struck, police officials said. The robbers collected cash and valuables worth millions and escaped.
The duty officer at the Ghalib Market police station said that apparently it seemed that the robbers were hunting the former minister. “We will register the house robbery case once the victim’s family lodges a formal complaint,” he said. Police investigators including senior officers were at the crimes scene till filing of this report.
In another incident, bandits shot and wounded Waqar Ashfaq on offering resistance during house and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 2.6 million. The Model Town police are investigating.
