GCU publishes Tahqeeq Nama

LAHORE – The Government College University Lahore has published the 10th edition of its annual Urdu literary research journal ‘Tahqeeq Nama’, which is dedicated to the distinguished modern Urdu poet, NM Rashid.
The journal contains a special section that sheds light on the life and works of literary stalwart Rashid. His philosophy and his poetic craft have been presented threadbare by noted critics, including Prof Dr Tabassum Kashmiri, Prof Dr Rasheed Amjad, Prof Dr Saadat Saeed, Prof Dr. Fakharul Haq Noori, Prof Dr Ziaul Hassan, Dr Muhammad Haroon Qadir, Dr Saima Irum, Dr Saeed Tahir and Nasreen Rashid,.
The journal also contains articles on a rare manuscript of Wajid Ali Shah’s ‘Masnavi’, and critical appreciation of Hafiz Mahmood Sherani, Abdul Haleem Sharar, Sajjad Haider Yaldram and Shaukat Siddique’s works.
Talking about the journal, GCU Urdu Department Chairperson Dr Shafiq Aajmi said that ‘Tahqeeq Nama’ was an HEC recognized journal of international repute and its advisory board included noted researchers from Osaka University of Foreign Studies Japan, Anarka University Turkey, Punjab University Oriental College and Tokyo University Japan.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman acknowledged the research acumen of the eminent Urdu scholars who had explored the literary as well as linguistic nuances of Urdu language and literature in the research journal.
He particularly appreciated their effort to gather invaluable critical articles on distinguished Old Ravian N M Rashid whose poetry stands out among the modern Urdu poets.
The GCU vice chancellor said that ‘Tahqeeq Nama’ had meticulously played its part to promote research in the realm of Urdu literature and win acclaim at the international level.
