Transport ban on MBS route challenged

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought reply from the Punjab government on a petition challenging public transport ban on the metro bus route by the authorities concerned.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a local transporter, has challenged the ban. He submitted that the provincial government had put ban on local transport in order to give financial benefit to the MBS. Owing to the ban hundreds of vans, buses and other local transports had been stopped, resultantly commuters were suffering and facing problems, the petitioner pointed out. He further said many of the businessmen associated with the transport industry had also been deprived of their paycheck while their employees had also been unemployed. He contended that the ban was against the fundamental rights guaranteed in the constitution.
