LAHORE – The Concerned Citizens of Pakistan Society (CCP) has expressed its resentment over the attempts to derail democracy.
“The citizens of Pakistan succeeded in restoring the independent judiciary and established the supremacy of constitution through sustained efforts and sacrifices. The mandate of constitution requires free, fair, transparent and timely elections. This fundamental right to democratic governance guaranteed by the constitution cannot be taken away by any person or institution, individually or in collusion with others,” the society stated in a press release.
“If any malafide efforts are made to derail (proper functioning of) democracy by anyone, these attempts will be resisted by 180 million Pakistanis. Let anyone who wants to march to Islamabad go peacefully (if they must), provided they do not take the law into their own hands, do not create anarchy or derail the democratic process,” it added.
