LAHORE - Secretary Information and Culture Punjab (ICDP), Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani has said that protection and conservation of the cultural heritage of Pakistan is the collective responsibility of the society.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a 4-day workshop on safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage jointly arranged by Information and Culture Department Punjab and UNESCO.
Country Director UNESCO Dr Kzo K. Nagata and Chief Resource Person of the Workshop Prof Sajida Wandal also spoke on the occasion. Experts from all over the country are attending the workshop. Speakers, while expressing their views, said that Pakistan was custodian of a rich cultural heritage and traditions and different civilizations had flourished in this region in various eras. They said that people of Pakistan should be proud of their cultural heritage. They also stressed the need for the conversation of cultural heritage including folk dances, music, handicrafts and dialects of various regions and transferring them to the next generation.
