LAHORE – Zahid Bukhari, counsel of Malik Riaz, in the Supreme Court, distanced himself on Wednesday from his client’s press conference on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters at the Lahore High Court premises, Bukhari said he held no involvement in or responsibility of the press conference. He said that he was only responsible for what was said in the court.
Bukhari termed Riaz’s words at the press conference “his personal opinions”, adding that he had avoided answering questions raised by reporters for the same reason.
He said there was no need to take Suo moto notice as there was no human right violation in Dr Arsalan Iftikhar case.
Bukhari said that he pledged the court to setup commission or transfer the case to other institution for investigation, adding that the court reply would be expected tomorrow in this regard.
He said that the contempt of court was not carried out in the press conference of Malik Riaz, adding that he was not consulted for this media briefing.
He said during the proceeding of the case, he asked the court to constitute commission for the investigation of Dr Arsalan Iftikhar case.
