Third force not to be allowed to take advantage of political deadlock: Nawaz

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday said his party will not allow any third force to take benefit of the political deadlock in the country and the political matters would be resolved in a political manner.

This he said while talking to a delegation of lawyers led by former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jahangir at his Raiwind residence.
During the meeting, Asma Jahangir urged Nawaz to end the present political deadlock in order to ensure smooth running of the system. Reacting to this, Nawaz Sharif stressed he is a supporter of the democracy; however, the deadlock is not wholly unjustified.
Asma Jahangir remarked she is well aware of the inefficiencies of the government and hence, wants early elections.
Nawaz Sharif make it clear that his party had no personal enmity with President Zardari or Prime Minister Gilani. However, he said, the PML-N wants the supremacy of the constitution and democracy for which it will continue its struggle. “The rulers want to crush the independence of judiciary under their feet, which can’t be allowed,” Nawaz said, adding that the government will have to implement all the verdicts of the Supreme Court.
The PML-N said the convicted prime minister was bringing a bad name for the country, therefore, he should quit immediately.
He said the PML-N wants the appointment of impartial Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) for free and fair polls, but the government seems least interested in this regard.
On the occasion, the guests invited Nawaz Sharif to attend the conference of SCBA on May 26. However, he said he will make any decision in this regard in consultation with the party leaders.
