September 14, 2012

LAHORE - The surge in bird strike incidents in Karachi and Lahore has been causing loss to Pakistan International Airlines, said spokesman of Society of Aircraft Engineers Pakistan on Thursday. He said in 2011, there were 39 bird strike events and in 2012 there are 24 bird strikes on PIA aircraft causing heavy financial loss, flight delays and passengers discomfort as well as grounding of aircrafts.  He claimed that it was the prime responsibility of regulatory authority to ensure safety of aircraft through wildlife control around the airfields to an eight-km distance.
