Call to follow Mehr Ali Shah’s teachings for peaceful Pakistan

LAHORE – Pakistan, an ideological state established on the basis of the Two-Nation Theory, could still become a peaceful land if its leaders and subjects adhered to the teachings of the saint Hazrat Pir Syed Mehr Ali Shah. This was stated by the speakers while addressing a seminar at Hameed Nizami Hall to commemorate the Pir.
The event, jointly organised by the daily Nawa-i-Waqt, TheNation and Waqt News, was addressed by Islamic Ideological Council member Justice (R) Nazir Ahmad, Maulana Mohammad Siddique Hazarvi, Allama Sheikh Abdul Hamid and Allama Nazakat Hussain Golravi.  Praising the services of the Pir, who vehemently challenged the Ahmadi Party’s divergent views about the Two-Nation Theory, the speakers said it were the Pir’s saintly character and sweet communiqué which strongly and ably countered the Ahmadi Party’s views about the Theory. “The pir had all the virtues that could support the trembling boat of the nation,” they maintained.
The program was presided over by Sajada Nasheen of the shrine of Golra Sharif, Pir Syed Moeenul Haq Gillani. Setting aside his other engagements for the day, TheNation Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami made it to the seminar. A large number of the people from different walks of life were also present.
In his address, Justice (R) Mian Nazir Akhtar said: “The Muslim Ummah has strong faith in the Khatam-e-Nubuwwat (SAW) as well as a faith that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven alive, and the one who denies these faiths excludes himself or herself from the circle of Islam.”
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, Mian Nazir Akhtar said, was not fortunate enough to have faith in true Islam. “Mirza Qadiani claimed to be an apostle of Allah Almighty. On this dirty move of his, the scholars and spiritual leaders of the Muslim community, through their writings, decided to counter the wrong faith of Mirza.” He said Mirza Qadiani had once challenged Pir Mehr Ali Shah to face his arguments on Qadianiat but did not appear on the decided date. “Mirza’s writings are full of dirt, while that of Pir Mehr Ali Shah’s are full of golden sayings.”
Talking about Mirza’s predictions, the Islamic Ideological Council member said, “How could one who predicted wrong be a true apostle of God?” In 1907, the Mirza predicted that Pir Mehr Ali Shah would die in the month of “Jeth”, but he himself died in that month while Shah Sahib survived till 1937, Mian Nazir Akhtar added.
Allama Sheikh Abdul Hamid said that there are two categories of people. One group believes in power while the other believes in good character. “Pir Mehr Ali Shah (RA), he said, believed in the later category. Citing a historic event from the Pir’s life, the Allama said, “Once the Indian Viceroy invited Mehr Ali Shah, but he refused to meet him saying that “I believe in bowing before Allah only.”
Maulana Mohammad Siddique Hazarvi, who paid rich tributes to the Pir, said, “Pir Mehr Ali Shah (RA) played a vital role in countering the “Qadianiat” in the subcontinent and ultimately defeated it. He thus saved the Ummah from the evil of Qadianiat that was spreading rapidly at the time.” Pir Mehr Ali Shah, he said, protected the teachings of Islam during the British rule in the sub-continent. The Sufis, he added, had always taught tolerance, endurance and harmony to help the true message of Islam spread. Maulana Hazarvi urged the disciples of the later Pir Mehr Ali Shah to follow his teachings in order to serve the humanity, especially the people of Pakistan.
Addressing the seminar, Allama Nazakat Hussain Golravi said that Pir Mehr Ali Shah (RA) had played a very important role for Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat. In the end, Pir Moeenul Haq and other participants prayed for peace and progress in the county.
