Public funds should be spent for welfare of masses only: LHC

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has said that funds allocated for various development projects in the budget are public property and should not be used for non development purposes.

A bench of LHC headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan heard the petition filed by Ameer Jamaat ud Dahwa (JuD) Hafiz Saeed regarding ending VIP culture in the province.
Advocate AK Dogar, lawyer of JuD Ameer told the court that keeping in view the financial situation of the country VIP culture at President, Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Governor Houses should be ended.
He said that educational institutions like Atchison should be closed and equivalent education culture should be introduced so as to provide identical education facilities to all citizens.
The petitioner was of the view that country is in the grip of multifaceted crises and being citizens of Pakistan, masses should be provided equivalent subsidy on gas, petrol, telephone and other basic amenities.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan said that ruling elite class is enjoying all facilities but on other hand common man is in trouble to get two times meal for his family.
He said that public funds are property of masses and they should be spent on welfare of countrymen and not for security, protocol and privileges of political leaders.
