LAHORE – A sub-inspector and a police constable have been booked on charges of stealing a pistol recovered from the possession of a dacoit in Mughalpura police station on Friday, sources said.
They further said three armed bandits struck Abdu Bakar and Saleem’s house and opened fire when the family and neighbours learnt about the robbery bid in time. During cross-firing, two dacoits managed to flee from the crime scene whereas their third accomplice was captured by the neighbours.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Rafaqat and Constable Ashraf reached the spot and recovered a pistol, cash and other valuables from his possession. “The cops in consultation with the dacoit intentionally did not mention the pistol in FIR,” said the sources, adding that later police learnt about the crime and booked them with no arrest until the filing of this report. Further investigation is underway.
