Robber killed, SHO injured in crossfire

LAHORE – An alleged robber was killed while a police officer and a bystander wounded seriously during crossfire in Gowalmandi area late on Tuesday night, police said.
Police sources revealed that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the police vehicle near a picket in Gowalmandi precincts on Tuesday night. The police also retaliated, which led to armed encounter in the congested locality.
As a result, one of the gunmen died on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape from the crime scene. The Station House Officer (SHO) Gowalmandi police station Moulvi Sattar and a passerby, later identified as Muhammad Umar, also sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to the Mayo hospital. The condition of the injured was reported to be out of danger.
