LAHORE – A 45-year-old woman, said to be deaf and dumb, was found dead from a field in the Hydyara police limits Wednesday. Police investigators suspected that unidentified killer(s) raped the disabled before strangulating her.
Minhala villager Irshad Bibi went missing since Tuesday when she left her house to fetch vegetables from nearby fields. “Villagers, who launched a hunt for the vanished woman found her body on Wednesday,” police said.
The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. Irshad Bibi has been residing with her parents after her divorce many years ago. The family told the police that they had no enmity with anybody.
Police sources said that the killer could be known to the deceased, who killed her after committing rape fearing she might disclose the happening to the villagers. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
GUNNED DOWN: A 24-year-old man was shot dead for ‘honour’ in the Baghbanpura police limits. Ali Raza was killed by the brothers and relatives of his wife Farzana Bibi, according to police. Police claimed that the girl had eloped with the man and then they contracted marriage against the will of her family. On the day of incident, Riaz and Sultan along with their accomplices gunned down Ali Raza and fled. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating with no arrest.
MURDERED: A father of three was strangled to death allegedly by his sister, her husband and son over property dispute in the North cantonment area, police said.
Shagufta Bibi told the police that Noor Jehan along with her husband, Zaheer, and son, Mubin, strangled her brother, Nisar Khan, to death. Investigators said that the complainant and the accused are sisters while the deceased had recently returned from the UK. According to the complainant, the killers had property dispute with the deceased.
