Addressing a press conference at his party office on Saturday, Qureshi said PTI Chairman Imran Khan would lead the major procession in Islamabad to back the judiciary. “I will head the second main event in Lahore,” Qureshi said, adding that the regional offices of PTI would hold demos in their respective areas.
Dubbing the Riaz-Arsalan affair as a conspiracy against the Supreme Court, the PTI leader said real estate magnate Malik Riaz’ allegations were part of a pre-planned plot to defame the independent judiciary.
Qureshi said the rulers concocted this plot as the judiciary took up important cases including the Swiss accounts, NRO and RPPs fraud. He stressed that the off-the-record Riaz’ interview footage revealed the property tycoon’s ties with the PM House.
However, he added that his party would stand by the judiciary to fail this attempt. He urged political parties and civil society to join hands with the PTI in its struggle for the supremacy of judiciary.
Separately in a statement, Imran Khan condemned the Landi Kotal bomb blast, in which 26 people were killed and dozens wounded. He expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
