Earlier, the people gathered at Neela Gumbad from different parts of the City in the form of processions. When Hamza rose to the rostrum to deliver his speech, party activists raised the slogan of Shair Aaya, Shair Aaya. Jubilant women workers raised slogans while standing on their seats.
A number of participants were seen carrying effigies of Prime Minister Gilani and President Zardari, but party leaders restrained the workers from setting them ablaze. Many participants had hanged electricity bills, lanterns and dry pieces of bread around their necks. A few reached the venue riding on horses and donkeys. They also kept raising slogans against the federal government.
