Assembly takes up 12 adjournment motions

LAHORE – Punjab Assembly took up 12 adjournment motions including the one relating to alleged monetary dispute between the director and main character of Oscar Award winning documentary film Saving Face at its 39th session on Wednesday.
In an adjournment motion, Sh Allauddin said that Sharmeen Obaid Chenoy promised to give Rs 3 million and a house in Multan as royalty to Rukhsana Bibi besides bearing expenses of her plastic surgery.
He said that the documentary did roaring business in the world besides winning Oscar Award. He said that the director of the documentary was not paying agreed amount and Rukhsana Bibi was running from pillars to the posts for getting her right. He said that such NGOs were bringing a bad name to the country besides exploiting the poor ladies. He stressed upon probing that who was sponsoring these NGOs. He also urged the government to support Rukhsana Bibi in getting agreed amount and house from Sharmeen Chenoy.
Opposing adjournment motion, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said that there was no reason to debate the issue at the PA floor. He said that there was need to stop injustice in the country instead of stopping others from bringing truth to light. He said that the aggrieved lady could go to court for her rights.
