LHC releases 27 kiln workers

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered to release 27 kiln workers including 14 kids, eight women and wife men who were recovered from a brick kiln.
Petitioner Awnar had filed habeas corpus petition for recovery of his relatives from alleged detention of kiln owner Haji Sikandar of Gujranwala. Petitioner counsel alleged that detainees were employee at the brick kiln of Haji Sikandar and from last one year he had not paid their wages.
He also alleged that on demand for payment of wages, kiln owner detained them and forced them to work. He requested for release of the detainee.
Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan deputed a bailiff who raided at the kiln and recovered the detainees and produced them before court.
The detainees made the statement before the court that they were forced to work for Haji Sikandar and they were detained and tortured.
