PA approves  IT university


LAHORE-The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday passed a bill regarding establishment of Information Technology University in the province.
Punjab Minister for Law, Rana Sana Ullah moved the bill in the House which was passed by the Assembly as recommend by the standing committee concerned.  
The university would be dedicated to the discovery and development of the most effective educational approaches and would aspire to serve as the model for the entire country. In the statement of object and reasons as given in the bill, it has been stated that there was a need to expend the base of engineering knowledge through original research and by developing technology to serve the needs of society.
Through amendment in the Punjab Court of Wards Bill, the Board of Revenue will have the power to make rules with the previous permission of the Government.
Previously, Commissioner of a Division had been empowered to make rules which may create anomaly as there are eight divisions in Punjab and eight set of rules were required to implement the Act.
The Assembly also approved an amendment in the Government Servants Housing Foundation Act to make a provision for its members to seek allocation of houses or plots depending upon their own options after their retirement.
