Seminar on energy resources

LAHORE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Pakistan (IEEEP) organised a seminar on “Materializing the Renewable Energy Resources” at WAPDA House here on Wednesday.
The seminar was organized with the collaboration of Zorlu Enerji Pakistan. IEEP Chairman Tahir Basharat Cheema, Lahore Centre Chairman Engineer Dawood, Renewable Energy Pakistan GM Faiz Ahmad Bhutta, SIEMENS Engineer Irfan Ahmad, Alternate Energy Development Board official Syed Aqeel Hussain Jafferi, CEO Power Planning International Engineer Hassan Jaffar Zaidi and others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said that investment in power sector has unfortunately become a non-profitable business and this trend must be stopped. Cheema said that the main problem of power sector was lack of sustainability.
“First of all we have to make investment in energy sector affordable and then steps should be taken to sustain it,” he added. He also regretted the non-existence of an umbrella organization to control power sector overall. He said  the NEPRA had disintegrating the power sector of the country. He said it was time to focus on local resources to produce electricity.
