Seven houses robbed

LAHORE – Dacoits on Thursday continued their looting spree, robbed seven residences, looted passersby and motorists and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees at gunpoint, police sources claimed.
Robbers barged into the house of Younis in Hydyara police limits and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables wroth Rs 700,000 after holding the inmates’ hostage  at gunpoint. Armed bandits forced their entry into the house of Dildar Khan located in Raiwind police precincts and snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs 600,000 at gunpoint.
Dacoits equipped with automatic weapons also looted five more houses situated in Faisal Town, Shafiqabad, Shera Kot, Gujjarpura and Lohari Gate police areas respectively. 
Robbers held up Shaukat and his wife in Mughalpura police area and snatched away cash and valuable worth Rs 100,000 at gunpoint. Bilal and his wife were deprived of cash and gold ornaments worth tens of thousands rupees at gunpoint from Johar Town police area.
Three cars were stolen away from Misri Shah, Defense and Kot Lakhpat police areas while four motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Lower Mall, Samanabad, Mustafabad, and Naseerabad police precincts.
Shot dead: City police shot dead an alleged robber and arrested his two accomplices during an ‘encounter’ in Samanabad area, police said on Thursday. 
Police claimed that the policemen at a picket set up near the drain stopped three suspects, who were riding on two motorcycles. As the police began physical search, one of them opened fire, triggering an armed encounter. As a result, one of the robbers was shot dead on the spot while the two others were arrested. A police constable also sustained bullet injuries on his hand.
