6666 Dengue cases reported in Punjab so far: Health officials
Desp ite deployment of all the resources and full attention of the Punjab government to control the Dengue virus, more and more people are turning to hospitals in the Province and particularly in Lahore on daily basis with symptoms of the disease. Punjab Health Department officials said on Monday that 6666 cases of the epidemic were registered in different hospitals. Of them 6126 were reported in Lahore. On Monday 205 patients of dengue fever were reported and of them 173 were from Lahore. Dengue patients have also been admitted in hospitals in Jhelum, Gakharmandi, Gujranwala and Sheikhupura. A Lady doctor of Rawalpindi District Headquarters Hospital was also tested positive of dengue virus. The officials however said that 25 persons died of dengue fever in Punjab and figures being given in the media were not correct. They said that 6126 dengue patients have gone back home after recovery from the disease. In Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa six people have died of the disease out of 125 reported cases.
