LAHORE - A girl who married for love was beaten up by her family on Monday as she came out of the courtroom after recoding statements at the LHC in favor of her husband facing kidnapping charges. Mafia, a resident of Pakpatan district, appeared before the court in response of kidnapping case against her husband Ahmad Din.
The lady told the court that she was never kidnapped and married Ahmad Din on her free will. She said the police had registered a fabricated case against her husband on the application of her parents.
The court recorded the lady’s statement and allowed her to go with her husband, and also directed the police concerned to discharge the case against Ahmad Din.
When the lady came out of the courtroom, her parents and relatives attacked the couple and thrashed her. However, the LHC security officials intervened and saved the couple from the attackers. Later, the couple left the court premises under the supervision of the security officials.
Rejected textile owner arrested from LHC: Police arrested a textile owner from the court involved in gas theft of Rs270million when Lahore High Court cancelled his interim bail on Monday. When Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi resumed hearing, accused Muhammad Anwar, textile owner from Faisalabad, officials of SNGPL and Punjab Prosecutor Sadaqat Ali Khan appeared before the court.
The Punjab prosecutor told the court that the accused was arrested red handed during raid under the supervision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The accused had stolen national resource of Rs270 million by applying an illegal connection in his factory, the prosecutor added. He requested the court to reject the interim bail of the accused as he was required to the police. The SNGPL officials also produced a report against the accused and demanded recovery from him.
The advocates of the accused denied the allegations, but the accused confessed his crime. He told the court that he had already deposited an installment of Rs45million and also ready to pay the theft amount. He requested the court to confirm his bail. The court heard the arguments of the all sides and cancelled the interim bail of accused.
The police arrested the accused after rejection of his bail plea.
