LAHORE – Lahore High Court Bar Association’s upcoming election was swamped in controversy on Tuesday when chief Election commissioner Waqar Hassan Mir resigned after the Bar’s general house overruled steps taken by commission to make poll process transparent.
Similarly, the Bar has relaxed the mandatory condition of bringing national identity card at the time of voting, saying the Bar association’s card would be enough. The general house also allowed candidates to make arrangements for launch at Bar’s premises on polling day which was banned by the Election commission.
LHCBA President Shehram Sarwar, however, appreciated commission’s efforts for deleting the names of dead members with more than one registered vote. Polls will be held on February 23.
