LAHORE – Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman revealed on Saturday that fresh lists of top 10 proclaimed offenders involved in terrorism, dacoity, murder and kidnapping for ransom cases had been prepared.
According to a police spokesperson, addressing an open court in the office of Khanewal district police officer (DPO), the Punjab IGP stated that the entire police force was hunting the most-wanted criminals under the direct supervision of city police officers.
During the open court, the IGP listened to many complainants and issued on-the-spot orders regarding the complaints related to cases of murder, rape, kidnapping, change of investigations, illegal possession and non-arrest of the accused.
The IGP suspended Khanewal City Police Station and Makhdoompur SHOs from service on the complaints of two women who appeared before the police chief to get justice.
According to an official handout, the IGP said that police officers were the protectors of life and property of the people, not rulers. “The uniform is, in fact, a trust of the public in the police,” said the IGP, adding that this responsibility can only be fulfilled by providing justice to the public.
