LAHORE – A 70-year-old woman, said to be the owner of a private school, was murdered cold-bloodedly at her residence in the Mustafabad police limits on Monday. Police investigators believe that the killers cut the woman’s wrist veins, leaving her to bleed to death.
Police said that the woman, identified as Waseem Naz, was residing alone at the house since all the members of her family had been staying abroad.
Station House Officer (SHO), SI Mumtaz Hussain, told The Nation that the woman was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced her as brought dead.
A guest disclosed the happening to the rescuers as he saw the old woman laying on the floor and bleeding profusely, the police officer said, adding, she was murdered by unidentified killer(s).
The resident of Manawan, said to be relative of the old lady, immediately contacted the son-in-law of the old lady and the Rescue-1122 workers, who later reached the spot and shifted her to the hospital.
“Naz Bibi, was residing in the upper portion of her residence while she had established a private school on the ground floor of her house in the Al-Madina street,” Muhammad Ishtiaq, duty officer at the police station said, when contacted.
Investigators said that the old woman was pronounced dead before they reached the hospital. According to them, they failed to record the statement of the old lady before her death.
The veins of the lady in both the wrists were severely cut, police investigators said, adding, they were investigating to ascertain the motives behind the brutal killing.
The dead body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. Police also confirmed that domestic goods were found scattered at the crime scene, indicating that the old woman offered resistance as the killer (s) approached her.
No case was registered so far, police said, adding, the sons and daughters of the old woman are informed abroad. The police are investigating with no arrest made yet.
