LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday stopped the government from imposing taxes on swimming polls built in houses, and sought reply from the Punjab local government secretary and Lahore district coordination officer in this regard.
The court stopped collection of taxes on a petition filed by Gulzar Ahmad. The petitioner said that the tax imposed on swimming polls built in houses was illegal and was a clear violation of the Local Government Ordinance.
Gulzar said that the government was collecting Rs60,000 annually from the owners of each of these swimming polls. The petitioner also prayed to the court to declare the tax as illegal and unlawful. The court will resume hearing of the case on July 9.
