LAHO RE The Punjab government has decided to introduce amendments in Section 182 and Section 213 of Pakistan Penal Code regarding false information with intent to cause any public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person and taking gift for himself or any other person to screen an offender from punishment in consideration of conceding an offence. This was revealed by the Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while presiding over a high level meeting to review the progress of under-investigation cases referred to the Anti-terrorist Courts here on Saturday. Sana said the proposed draft of amendments had been prepared by the public Prosecution Department, and the Law Department had vetted the draft. He, in consultation with the participants of the meeting, decided to constitute a special committee comprising MPAs Waris Kalloo, Tahir Khalil Sindhu besides the administrative secretaries of Home Department, Public Prosecution Department and Law Department along with the additional IG Police (Investigation) Punjab. The committee will analyse the past ten year crime data, and would give its input to finalise to which extend the false litigants should be punished.
