OUR? STAFF?REPORTER LAHORE - Sri Lankan experts spent a busy day in the City and visited Mayo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Jinnah Hospital. Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Assad Aslam and Medical Superintendent Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Pervaiz gave a detailed brief to the visiting team regarding arrangements for Dengue patients. The experts also met Dengue patients at Sir Ganga Ram and Jinnah Hospital. The experts stressed upon the need of making efforts at collective and individual levels to eradicate the menace of Dengue fever. They were of the view that efforts at every household level were needed to combat Dengue in an effective manner. Pakistan Army started insecticide spray and fumigation in Katchi Abadis and suburbs of Cantonment in the second phase of anti-Dengue campaign. 35 teams carried out insecticide spray and fumigation in the settlements adjacent to Cantonment. The teams carried out drive in Husnain Abad, Khan Colony, Makka Colony, Gohawa Jathol, Ghaziabad, Charrar, Mustafa Abad, Phularwan, New Super Town, Iqbal Park, Barki, Sardar Colony, Heera Singh, Fateh Singh Wala, Chak Dhera, Sangat Pura, Punjab Society, Alfalah Town and Jogian. Special teams also cleared debris and solid waste from these localities. Medics from Pak Army carried out medical check up of over 50000 civilians at 12 free camps established in different areas of Cantonment. The experts carried out blood screening of 32964 suspected Dengue patients and 1492 were kept at camps for mild fever and were provided necessary medicine. As many as 443 Dengue patients have been discharged from CMH after giving free treatment. 133 Dengue patients are still under treatment at the CMH. Special squad of the City District Government, headed by District Officer (Monitoring and Inquiries) Amin Akbar Chopra sealed four laboratories for charging extra fee for CBC tests. The squad also sealed Hayat Medical Store, Raza Block, Allama Iqbal Town, for selling expired medicine. The labs sealed for overcharging include Haroon Lab G T Road, Muslim Lab opposite Lahore General Hospital, Ravi Lab and Al-Aqsa Lab Shahdara.
