LAHORE - The Pakistan People’s Party Lahore General Secretary Zakria Butt has congratulated the parliament and PPP-leadership for electing Raja Pervez Ashraf as new prime minister of Pakistan.
He said that the PPP had proved that it was party of the poor by electing a person belonging to the middle class as the prime minister. He also congratulated Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and hoped that he would contribute his abilities to overcome the challenges being faced by the nation.
Zakria said that the election of the new prime minister was a victory of the democracy and the parliament, adding that continuity of democratic system was necessary for the country because it was facing severe challenges.
Zakria further said that the confrontation was dangerous for democracy and the country, so the PPP always followed the path of reconciliation. He urged the opposition to follow the charter of democracy in the larger interest of the country and its people.
PLF congratulates newly elected PM: Also, the People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF) Punjab on Friday congratulated Raja Pervez Ashraf on his election as the prime minister of Pakistan.
Talking to APP, PLF Secretary Information Abdullah Malik said that the election of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had refuted allegations that the PPP was a hereditary party.
He said that the PPP proved that it was a pro-worker and pro-poor party as it nominated an ordinary man for the post of prime minister.
He expressed the hope that the newly elected prime minister would take steps to resolve problems of people and the country.
