‘ZEAL’ LAUNCHED: Punjab University Department of Gender Studies, in collaboration with Strengthening Participatory Organization, held the launching ceremony of its first news bulletin ‘Zeal’ and inauguration of Punjab University Gender Alliance at Undergraduate Study Centre on Friday.
Former Punjab University Department of Gender Studies Chairperson and former University of Education Vice Chancellor Dr Munawar Mirza, Gender Studies Chairperson Dr Samar Fatima, Institute of Social and Cultural Studies Director Dr Zakria Zakar, Mahnaz Rafi, Salman Abid, Raana Malik, Sohail Abdul Sattar, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Fatima said that humans were superior to all other creations only because of knowledge. Thus, she said, students should focus on their studies with zeal and zest.
The speakers viewed that the education of gender studies was a big achievement and had given a new thinking to Pakistani women for playing their due role in the national development. They said that the country could not progress without the participation of women, adding that ‘Zeal’ would create a link between the Punjab University and civil society.
