LAHORE – Shadbagh police failed to arrest the Qari, who had tortured a 13-year-old student some 11 days back at a religious seminary, resulting in the minor’s death on Sunday last at a local hospital.
According to details, the victim Muhammad Jameel, son of Muhammad Shafique, and a resident of Shahbaz Road, studied at the Azezia Mosque in Bhagatpura. The teacher namely Qari Jameel badly thrashed the boy especially hitting his belly, as a result of which the boy suffered multiple injuries in his abdomen. The boy was taken to a local hospital, when he complained of abdominal pain and fainted, but he was pronounced dead by the doctors.  Later, a case was lodged with the police under section 302 of PPC against the teacher with no arrest till filing of this report. Further investigations are underway.
