In Lahore, the 16mm rain started last night and continued intermittently throughout the day on Saturday. The rains, overcast conditions and continuously blowing winds caused considerable decrease in temperature.
People come out of their houses in the evening to enjoy wet conditions on a weekend. Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people including women and children in the evening.
Huge rush was witnessed at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Jilani Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic sports in the City. Frequent traffic jams were witnessed in the close vicinity of these picnic spots.
The rains added to the woes and miseries of motorists and pedestrians. The inundated rainwater on roadsides and slippery conditions of roads caused frequent traffic jams on important City roads. Several incidents of skidding of motorcycles were also reported from different parts of the City.
On Saturday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 16 degree Celsius and 11 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 89 per cent.
According to the experts, a trough of westerly wave lies over upper parts of the country.
Local meteorological department has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rains for the City during the next 24 hours. Met office has forecast rains with snowfall over the hills at scattered places of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sahiwal divisions.
Rains with light snowfall over the hills are expected at isolated places of Quetta, Zhob and Malakand divisions.
On Saturday, Sialkot received 33 mm rain, Gujranwala 29 mm, Chhore and Pattan 22 mm each, Nawabshah 21 mm, Garhi Dupatta and Rawlakot 20 mm each, Bahawalnagar 17 mm, Mangla 16 mm, Dir and Padidan 10 mm each, Samungli 09 mm, Risalpur and Kotli 08 mm each, Balakot 07 mm, Okara, Mirkhani and Quetta 06 mm each, Jhang and Chitral 03 mm each, Islamabad, Toba Tek Singh Khanpur and Saidu Sharif 02 mm each, Jhelum, Lower Dir and Jacobasbad 01 mm each while Faisalabad, Multan and Chilas received traces of rain.
