Thematically, the work of the artist is about Pakistani culture and its interpretations in the society which highlights the issues of the society that how its being effected by the West but yet deeply rooted with the Eastern culture. Talking to TheNation, she said, My works is about how I see western art and I re-interpret the content into South Asian culture. The example is Olympia which was painted by Eduard Manet depicting a woman, being offered flowers but she seems to be ignoring the flowers and interested in the deal and money perhaps. Hareem said her Olympia was a photograph where the woman was being offered rose and she seems to be careless about material things that was being offered while holding 'Nikkah Naama in her hands very firmly. She said the idea was that no matter how much we got influenced with the western art and culture, we were still rooted deeply with our cultural bonds.
