LAHORE - On the directions of the DIG N-5 Central National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP), the N-5 Central zone has devised special strategy to curb accidents on highways during the timings of ‘Aftari’ in Ramazan.
DIG N-5 Central Rai Altaf Hussain has directed all Beat Commanders / DSPs and Admin officers to remain on highways for one hour before ‘Aftari’ because at this time most of the drivers become reckless.
The officers have been asked to check over speeding through cameras to prevent any incident. During the night, special Crime Squads will be deployed at all sectors from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan and all the Beat Commanders will ensure vigilant and effective patrolling in their area.
Beat Commanders have been asked to arrange ‘Sehri’ and ‘Aftari’ for the officers on duty. The officers have further been directed to extend prompt help to the commuters in distress. The patrolling officers have been especially asked to observe maximum tolerance with the commuters as they tend to loose temper near ‘Aftari’ hours.
A meeting was also held with the heads of different transport unions. They were asked to brief their drivers not to involve in rash driving during ‘Aftari’ hours and avoid overloading of passengers. They were further asked to deploy trained security and all baggage and passengers were to be checked before boarding.
