IAC seeks action against IJT ‘hooligans’

June 24, 2012

LAHORE – The Imamia Action Committee (IAC) on Saturday urged the Punjab government and Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran to take action against the elements involved in spreading sectarianism on the campus.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, IAC leaders Tauqeer Abbas, Javaid Abbas Sheerazi, Syed Imran Naqvi, Ahmed Raza Khan and Malik Ijaz alleged that Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba (IJT) “hooligans” did not allow any other organisation to hold its congregations on the university premises.
“The IJT has held hostage the university for the last many years. Its members assault not only the students but also the faculty,” the IAC leaders said. They demanded of the government and university administration to take immediate action against those students who are involved in spreading sectarianism in the prestigious institution, to provide a peaceful environment to the students.
