Punjab role model in development: WB

LAHORE  – World Bank Pakistan Country Director Rasheed Bin Masood said on Wednesday that Punjab was a role model for other provinces in development since the provincial government had shown a scintillating performance in timely and transparent completion of uplift projects.

During a meeting with senior officers of the Punjab government on the ongoing development projects in the province, Masood said that the performance of the Punjab government as concerns the utilisation of funds for development projects was highly satisfactory and the World Bank would continue its cooperation with the Punjab government for completion of these projects.
Masood further said that the World Bank was ready to provide funds for the development projects in Punjab, while necessary cooperation would be extended to ensure completion of the ongoing development projects on schedule.
During the meeting, a detailed review of the pace and quality of work was undertaken with regard to the ongoing development projects in Punjab, including Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project, Jinnah Barrage and rehabilitation of other barrages, Land Record Management and Information System Project, Punjab Irrigated Agricultural Productivity Improvement Programme, Punjab Education Sector Reforms Project, and Punjab Citizens Governance Improvement Project.
