LAHORE - CIA police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an extortionist for hurling life threats to a local businessman to extort two million rupees.
While addressing a press conference at the Investigations Headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh on Tuesday, Lahore SSP (investigation) Abdul Rab said that the accused, identified as Nazakat Pathan, threatened the resident of Model Town Sajjad Ahmed to pay him Rs two million as extortion. The SSP further said that the accused made calls on the mobile phone of the businessman and demanded the extortion money. The Faisal Town police registered the case and later a team headed by SP CIA Muhammad Omar Virk arrested the accused person during a successful raid. During preliminary investigation, the accused told the investigators that his father had been working as driver with the businessman for the last 35 years. The accused made the plan to extort huge money from the businessman as he wanted to go abroad, police said.
