Federal Shariat Court former chief justice Mian Mehboob Ahmed said this while addressing a sitting held to pay tribute to great leaders of freedom movement at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Thursday. Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust (NPT) and Pakistan Movement Workers’ Trust (PMWT) jointly organised the sitting in remembrance of Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Nawab Salim Ullah Khan, Nawab Waqar-ul-Mulk and Nawab Siddique Ali Khan.
TheNation Editor-in-Chief and NPT Chairman Majid Nizami especially participated in the event. Other speakers included Professor Dr MA Soofi, Professor Dr Parveen Khan, Colonel (rtd) Ikramullah Khan, Professor Muzaffar Mirza, Mian Abdul Kareem, Aziz Zafar Azad, Professor Iftikhar Sohail and Shahid Rasheed. Teachers, students and people from different walks of life participated.
Mian Mehboob said that Quaid-i-Azam had always given importance to time but now the youth was not being informed about the value of time, he regretted. He said that great Muslim leaders had worked hard to establish an independent country. And now, he added, the flag bearer of Pakistan’s ideology was Majid Nizami. He dispelled the propaganda in which Quaid had been termed as an advocate of establishing a secular state in shape of Pakistan. It was rubbish and a try by the some sections to make wrong the historic reference and incidents, he held.
Majid Nizami paying tribute to great leaders said that Muslims were deprived of basis facilities before the partition. At that time, he said, Hindus were dominant and all the control was in their hands. “Now, you can see the fruits of freedom everywhere,” he said and stressed that still was the need to remain conscious about the conspiracies of the Hindus against the country. He condemned the American dictation and government’s willingness to buy oil from India instead of Iran. “They (rulers) have not the courage to ask America that we will buy oil from where we want,” he regretted. He reiterated the need for the unification of Muslim League’s factions. Referring a recent statement of Pir Pagara Sibghtullah Shah in which the PML-F head said that he would try for the unification of the League, Majid Nizami prayed that may Allah succeeded Pir Pagara in his efforts.
Speakers paid tribute to late leader of Pakistan Movement and stressed the need for following their footsteps to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state.
