300 journalists get driving licences

LAHORE - The City Traffic Police on Friday issued over 300 driving learner permits to the employees and their relatives of Daily TheNation and the Waqt News on Friday.
The permits were issued for six months, but after the lapse of 42 days the employees would be given permanent licenses. A special mobile van of the City Traffic Police led by the senior traffic officers arrived at the Waqt News and TheNation’s office and issued learner permits to the employees and their family members.
The Traffic police spokesperson said that the CTO SSP Dr Muhammad Usman categorically pledged to facilitate the media men at their doorstep, as he was of the view that due to their evening work-hours.
He said the same mobile van would visit after 42 days and issue permanent licenses to the learner licences’ holders after conducting the driving tests.
The Nawa-i-Waqt group employees strongly lauded the efforts of the CTO, saying such step taken by traffic police authority was unique, adding that such actions were really facilitating the journalists, at their doorsteps.
