PML-N to restore Bahawalpur province at any cost: Shahbaz, Nisar

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Monday pledged that it will restore the previous status of Bahawalpur province at any cost.

This was stated during a joint press conference addressed by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif speaking on the occasion criticised the PPP-led coalition government on the issue of creation of new province, claimed that Bahawalpur province would be established at any cost. He said that Bahawalpur city would be the provincial capital of the province.
Shahbaz Sharif blamed it is another trick of the PPP and ‘Zardari gang’ to postpone the forthcoming elections. He said that the PPP is trying to put in doldrums the issue of new provinces by misleading the people.
Commenting on the Parliamentary Commission on new provinces in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that the Commission should look into the administrative issues of the new province instead of political bases.
On the occasion, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that creation of new province is not only a joke but would also disintegrate Punjab province.
He said that the Parliamentary Commission on new provinces in Punjab was given a mandate to form two provinces and this regard a resolution was also passed in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab unanimously.
He said that the inclusion of Bhakkar and Mianawali cities are also unconstitutional.
He strongly criticized the PPP government and President Asif Ali Zaradri and said Chairman of the Commission Senator Farhatullah Babar is the staff member of President, who is not acceptable.
Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said that his party was also committed to Hazara province. But he added that PML-N would consult with other parties on this issue.
The PML-N leader also announced that PML-N would table its own amendment bill for the creation of Bahawalpur and South Punjab provinces in line with the resolutions passed by the Punjab Assembly.
“No senior member of the PML-N belonging to Punjab was consulted prior to the formation of parliamentary commission, which was unlawfully named by President Zardari,” he added.
He said that if a resolution would be presented regarding BJP, the PML-N would bring the Constitutional amendment. The PML-N wants to disclose the real face of all the parties, he said.
Commenting on the PML-N sit-in, he said that the sit-in is being held on the issue of Karachi in which all opposition parties would be participating.
