Plea to ban polio vaccine as un-Islamic turned down

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Wednesday turned down a request to ban polio vaccination drops being administrated to children throughout the country. Petitioner Hafiz Zulfqar pleaded that the vaccine available in Pakistan was substandard and the material used in its manufacturing was also forbidden in Islam. He submitted that the authorities concerned were forcibly administering the vaccine to children. He requested the court to ban the polio vaccination by declaring it substandard. -Reporter
