LHC orders equal power loadshedding in all provinces

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered for equal power loadshedding in all provinces during the holy month of Ramazan.

The LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard a petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique against loadshedding in the duration of Sehri and Iftar. The court ruled that no province should be discriminated against on the issue of loadshedding and that it should be carried out on a uniform basis.
The petitioner stated that incidents of power theft were more frequent in other provinces as opposed to Punjab, adding that, consumers in Punjab were still paying more than those in other provinces.
The court moreover issued notices to the federal government, the Ministry for Water and Power and distribution companies for August 7.
