Hospitals asked to allocate beds for patients

LAHO RE - Parliamentary Secretary Health Punjab Dr Saeed Elahi has said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, all the diagnostics and treatment facilities for the dengue patients are being provided free of cost and the administrations of hospitals have been directed to allocate at least 10 to 30 beds for patients. Dr Saeed Elahi informed that City District Government Hospital for communicable diseases has been transformed into dengue hospital and all facilities including additional medical staff would be provided there. He said that this decision would be implemented within next couple of days. He said that the CDGss Health Department has been directed to complete insecticide spray in all the union councils on priority basis. He said government has provided chemicals in sufficient quantity and 150 additional pumps have also been supplied to CDGL for this purpose. He informed that the arrangements for blood test are being finalised at CDGL dispensaries for suspected dengue patients. He said that government has taken serious notice of few profiteers who were getting benefit of the situation and hoarding and black-marketing the platelet kits. He said that such elements would be dealt with iron hand. He informed that more than 350 such kits have been given to Jinnah Hospital, which would ease the difficulties. Moreover, World Health Organisation, UNICEF and other agencies have been requested to import platelet kits on priority basis, he concluded.
