LAHORE – The Excise and Taxation director general on Saturday appointed Muhammad Asif as audit and enforcement director, shortly after the latter’s transfer from Bahawalpur following strike of the excise staff against his posting.
An excise officer said Asif was posted as the Bahawalpur excise and taxation director and he took charge of his office on September 14. “The next day, all the subordinate staff went on strike alleging that Asif did not allow them to offer prayers,” he added.
After the Bahawalpur Excise and Taxation offices observed strike for two days, an inquiry team comprising two senior directors was sent to look into the matter. The team asked Muhammad Asif to report back to the DG’s Office in Lahore, following which he was given an even more lucrative posting.
